About Kirksville VFD
Established in 1977, the Kirksville Volunteer Fire Department is an all volunteer agency that provides fire and rescue services to 75 square miles of Madison County, Kentucky. The department is located approximately 9 miles outside the City of Richmond in the unincorporated area of Kirksville. KVFD currently operates out of a single station, utilizing 7 fire apparatus. We are comprised of 45 members made up of local residents and students from Eastern Kentucky University. We are proud to serve the citizens of Madison County and beyond.
Over the years, the Kirksville Volunteer Fire Department has undergone many changes. The accumulation of new gear, air packs, apparatus, and members has changed the forefront of the department. Though we are excited with all of the improvements and changes, we take pride in our traditions. The department released a new logo in 2018 to reflect these changes in the department, but appreciates where we came from. The classic Kentucky K found in the middle was also found on the first Kirksville logo. The Madison County Court House and Kirksville Fire Station (pictured left and right) are also shown as two important images in the departments history. Members wear this new representation of the department with pride in growth and hold strong traditions of the past.
